About Altra
Altra was founded in Utah in 2009 by Golden Harper, Brian Beckstead and Jeremy Howlett. Working in a running store, Harper began modifying shoes in a toaster oven to remove the height difference between heel and toe — the idea behind Altra’s zero-drop design.
Today Altra is known for two signatures: Balanced Cushioning™, which keeps the heel and forefoot at the same height, and the FootShape™ toe box, which gives toes room to spread naturally. Models such as the Lone Peak trail shoe have earned a loyal following among runners and hikers.
